Tours of Mid-York

All trustees are welcome to contact Mid-York to come for a tour at your own convenience. You will meet the employees and find out the behind-the-scenes work that is done to provide service to member libraries. There is also a once a month tour for the public. You can also invite Mid-York staff to come to your library board meeting to focus on a particular topic. Trustee education is a good way to make your library strong.

The Basloe Library trustees are planning to attend the Mid York tour in June. I agree that it is important for our boards to understand our relationship to the library system and the services that you provide. I'm looking forward to being there with them. DK

How often do your trustees change position. What is proper Trustee knowledge. Can employees attend your meetings? I'm new to this stuff.

In New York State, each public library is chartered by the Regents and that charter sets up how many trustees there are and how long the terms are. Trustees need to have a basic understanding of their duties and responsibilities, so Mid-York staff holds training sessions for that purpose. Mid-York provides opportunities for staff tours and orientation, which can be arranged by calling 315-735-8328.
